FC Alma-Ata

FC Alma-Ata ((カザフ語:Алма-Ата Футбол Клубы)) was a Kazakh association football club based in Almaty between 2000-2008. Founded as FC Tsesna in 2000, they became FC Alma-Ata in 2004.
== History ==
FC Tsesna was formed in Almaty in the beginning of 2000. Initially the club was a football section organized on the basis of taken into trust management Children and Youth sports school. After reconstruction of an abandoned stadium where again turf was put, the school’s premises refurbishement the first group of young football players got an opportunity to start training. Soon after that, the football club had an agreement with one of the schools in Almaty where schoolchildren got a unique opportunity to combine studies with professional sport, which created required conditions to prepare future professional football players. After the graduation of a comprehensive school the most promising players were paid for their studying at universities. Others, who didn’t prove themselves in football, were helped in further employment, as the paramount of the club is not only bringing up professional football players, but raising a worthy member of society.
In a short time the club turned into the smithy of football staff for Kazakhstan Premier League and national team. In autumn 2003 FC Tsesna, having played in the Kazakhstan First Division being ahead of its rivals won the right to perform among the strongest teams. Entering the elite of Kazakhstani football meant the establishment of Super League club. Administration decided to give the club a new name — FC Alma-Ata. Farm-staff and the children’s school remained the former name. In 2004 the club transferred to top division of the Republic of Kazakhstan Football Championship. Here the year of 2006 became the best for the club where FC Alma-Ata won Kazakhstan Cup. In regards to this victory the football club qualified to the 2007-08 UEFA Cup. Their first outing was unsuccessful as they were eliminated in the first qualifying round by Slovakian side FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce. At the beginning of 2009, the club announced itself bankrupt. The most of club staff joined FC Megasport and formed FC Lokomotiv Astana.
